Social media marketing is an extremely powerful resource which can help all kinds of business by creating a deeper Business to Customer (B2C) relationship. Now, social media is not just Facebook, no, no, no, social media encompasses Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Youtube, LinkedIn, TikTok and more!

Regardless of whatever size your business is if you haven’t paid attention to social media marketing; it’s about time you do.

Why should you choose video marketing in social media

Video is the most engaging content on social media.

It is so much more than just an image. Customers LOVE videos (because) when done the right way, they are ENGAGING, CREATIVE and most of all HELP YOU TO RELATE TO YOUR CUSTOMER.

Did we mention that video is available to everyone on social media? Whilst it is best to get a trained professional to help you craft your videos, your smartphone and computer can also do just the trick (if you know how)!

Building Trust

Trust is defined as a firm belief in the reliability, truth, or ability of someone or something. Customers need to have trust in you and your brand in order for them to make that connection (note: building trust with your customers should be one of your top priorities). Gone are the days of sell sell sell, these days customers are tuned to ignore your selling pitches, and instead need a real human connection. There is a famous saying of tell, tell, tell and then sell.

Video is everything.

Video content goes deeper than an image. It will play on peoples emotions, feelings and allow people to experience more of you and your brand. This is why we have seen an increase in social media influencers and marketing through them. Potential customers already relate to these people (and have given them their trust).

Successful advertising videos present your video in a conversational manner. This helps customers to relate and gives them more certainty and is the reason 65% of shoppers state that product description videos gave them more certainty to buy on social media.

Rise of mobile video consumption by 2017 to 2022

In the last 5 years, consumers are turning off the TV and turning on social media. There are a number of factors that contribute to this change, such as, people are becoming increasingly busy, we always have our mobiles on us and it is how we connect with our family and friends. From this trend, video content is rising on smartphones especially easy to digest bite-size bits of information (videos under 1 minute).

In a report which claimed that Youtube, Facebook and Google have all reach 91% of revenue by Q3 of 2019 it’s hard to ignore the figures that point to SOCIAL MEDIA VIDEOS. And, a major portion of this revenue growth is ads on mobile.

By 2021, there is projected to be in excess of 40 million cord-cutters (the people who do not watch Television) in the world. The reason? We stream everything on our devices.

According to the prediction of the below Cisco report, by the end of 2022, the video marketing industry will increase significantly and make up more than 85% of the consumption of internet traffic. This is 16 times higher then it was in 2019. Roughly 80% of people are watching online videos every week.

The relationship between search engines and videos

Videos allow you to add that personal element and increase time spent by guests on your site (or social media outlet). In this way, a more extended introduction can build trust and let them know that you have great content! There are a number of websites and tools which can be used to measure your audience engagement. You are more likely to appear on the first page of Google if you have videos on your website.  This is because Google owns YouTube, and has put a heavier weighting on websites which feature what Google likes. This process is conducted by a Googlebot.

Note: make sure you update your videos and records on YouTube as well for SEO. This can be making sure you have engaging titles and SUBTITLES. Did you know how important subtitles are on video? More than 75% of consumers watch (or at least start watching) videos on silent. If the content seems engaging, they may open it up to allow for sound. However, more often than not, they will continue to watch the video in silence and read subtitles.

Videos and Return on Investment (ROI)

85% of organisations state that video has given them an increase in profitability. Even though video creation is not the cheapest option for your social media advertising plan, you will be pleasantly surprised by the engagement received on it when compared with a photo. Now, we aren’t saying you need to go out and spend $1000 per month on videos. You can still make suitable social media videos from your smartphone, and use free apps on your phone to edit them – because AMAZING news, your videos do not need to be amazing. It is the substance that matters!
